Itinerary
Your day in Varanasi begins with an early morning pickup at 5:30 AM from your hotel. From there, you will embark on a serene sunrise boat ride on the sacred Ganges River, offering a unique opportunity to witness the ancient morning rituals performed along its banks. After the boat ride, your guide will lead you on a short walking tour through the old city's alleyways, culminating in a glimpse of the revered Kashi Vishwanath Temple, one of Hinduism's holiest shrines. Next, you will stop for breakfast (at your own expense) before heading to Banaras Hindu University (BHU) at 10:00 AM. Established in 1916, BHU is renowned as the largest university campus in Asia. During your visit, you will tour the expansive campus, explore the Bharat Kala Bhavan museum, and marvel at the new Vishwanath Temple (Birla Temple), an exact replica of the original Kashi Vishwanath Temple. Following your visit to BHU, you will proceed to the Durga Temple, also known as Durga Kund Mandir, a prominent and famous temple in Varanasi. At 12:30 PM, you will delve into the rich silk weaving traditions of Varanasi, learning about this intricate craft. Afterward, you will take a break for lunch (at your own expense). In the afternoon, you will drive approximately eight miles (13 km) to Sarnath. Here, you will visit Dhamekh Stupa, a significant site where Buddha delivered his first sermon. You will also explore the Archaeological Museum, which houses ancient treasures dating back to the 3rd century BC (please note: the museum is closed on Fridays). As the day draws to a close, at 5:00 PM, you will return to the Ganges to observe the cremation grounds. Finally, you will proceed to Dashashwamedh Ghat to witness the mesmerizing evening Ganga Aarti ceremony. Your tour concludes with a return to your hotel around 8:00 PM.
